Year 2 visit to London Fire Brigade Museum
6th December 2011
"On Tuesday, Year 2 went to The London Fire Brigade Museum. The first thing we did was listen to a man called Simon who told us the story of the Great Fire of London and we acted out some of it. Simon was funny. Our favourite bit was when he made us all jump when he told us that the streets were hot. Afterwards we went to the museum to see the old and new fire engines. The oldest fire engine was called a pump. It was pulled by horses and somebody had to sit at the top and control the horses. People had to pump the water out with their hands. We tried on firemen uniforms from the olden days to the newest uniform which was fun. We saw firemen training. The firemen with the white helmets were the teachers and the firemen with the yellow helmets were the pupils. Later we went to have lunch under the fire station. We had a wonderful time. Thank you to Jane, Simon, Mrs Russell and Mrs Post." Lila and Leyla
